ABOUT

EnerG2 and its state-of-the-art scientific approach to energy storage materials have been backed over the past seven years by the public and private sectors.

Among the company's supporters: the University of Washington, the Washington Technology Center, a state-supported economic development agency that finances applications of university research, WRF Capital, the Sustainability Investment Fund, Northwest Energy Angels, the Frontier Angel Fund, OVP Venture Partners, Firelake Capital Management, and Yaletown Venture Partners.

EnerG2's technologies are derived from research originally conducted at the University of Washington; the successful spin-out of those technologies from the UW was achieved with assistance from the UW Center for Commercialization.

MANAGEMENT
Eric "Rick" Luebbe - Chief Executive Officer
With over 15 years of experience in business formation, executive management and enterprise sales, Rick Luebbe leads EnerG2 as CEO. As one of the early entrepreneurs in the cleantech movement, Luebbe has consistently said that the new energy economy can't succeed unless innovative breakthrough energy technologies are developed and brought to market. Previously, Luebbe was co-founder and CEO of Hubspan, one of the Web's lasting business-to-business integrators. As a management consultant with Booz Allen, Luebbe specialized in manufacturing efficiency. As a US Army officer, he led an aeroscout platoon in Desert Storm, and later flew Apaches as commander of an Attack Helicopter Company. Luebbe received a BA from Cornell University and an MBA from Stanford.


Aaron Feaver, PhD - Chief Technology Officer
Concentrating on the synthesis and processing of high performance carbon materials, Dr. Aaron Feaver is a global expert on the move to engineered materials solutions for clean technology. Feaver co-founded EnerG2 and has written and spoken extensively on nanotechnology topics. He has led the Company's technology development from inception at the labs of the University of Washington in 2003 to a venture-backed business today. Prior to Feaver's focus on nanotechnology, he was a project manager and engineer within Boeing's Design for Environment/Manufacturing initiative. Feaver received a BS from University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and a PhD in Materials Science from the University of Washington.


Chris Wheaton - Chief Operating & Financial Officer
Leveraging nearly 20 years of technology operations experience spanning a variety of industries, Chris Wheaton ensures EnerG2's growth and long-term scalability by leading the company's financial strategies, marketing communications, and internal process development. He also oversees the company's grant acquisition and government contract programs. Prior to co-founding EnerG2, Wheaton served as VP of North American Operations for Loudcloud, Inc. and led the $65 million spinout and integration of his division into EDS. He has also provided product line management for a variety of successful technology delivery start-ups. Wheaton received a BA from Northwestern University and an MBA from Stanford.


Henry "Rick" Costantino, PhD - VP Research & Development
With nearly 15 years experience in chemical and biopharmaceutical product development, Dr. Henry "Rick" Costantino leads EnerG2's research and development activities. Prior to joining EnerG2, Costantino was engaged in the formulation and development of commercial-scale biopharmaceutical products, including his last post as Chief Scientific Officer for Nastech, a Puget Sound area biotech company. He has 14 issued U.S. patents (with numerous pending) and over fifty publications, including peer-reviewed manuscripts and a co-edited seminal book on lyophilization. Costantino has BS and MS in Chemical Engineering from The Johns Hopkins University and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from MIT.


Mark Liffmann - VP Business Development
With nearly 10 years experience in senior positions in the CleanTech industry, Mark Liffmann leads the business development efforts for EnerG2. Prior to EnerG2, he co-founded the largest business unit at SunPower and led business development to grow sales from inception to over $500 million in annual revenue. Prior to SunPower, Liffmann was VP Business Development and Chief Operating Officer at Solar Depot, where he led the doubling of revenue in 2 years. Prior to Solar Depot, he was an associate at the law firm of Gunderson Dettmer, specializing in the financing of emerging growth companies. Liffmann holds a BS in Physics and a BA in Public Policy from Stanford University and a JD and an MS in Economics from Harvard University.


Phil Souza - VP Manufacturing
With over 30 years of experience in both Fortune 500 companies and technology start-ups, Phil Souza leads EnerG2's manufacturing and supply chain operations. Souza is responsible for manufacturing strategy and management of EnerG2's supply chain. Prior to joining EnerG2, Souza served as VP manufacturing for BASF Fuel Cell in Somerset, NJ where he successfully established manufacturing of their high temperature fuel cell assemblies and gas diffusion electrodes. Souza was VP operations for E Ink Corporation in Cambridge, MA where he led the successful effort to commercialize the electronic display for the Sony Librie e-Book and now used in the Amazon Kindle. Souza held a variety of senior manufacturing positions during his 25 year career at Polaroid Corporation in Cambridge, MA. He holds a BS Chemistry and an MBA degree.
